“During my parliamentary term, I made three trips around Nicaragua to get a sense of the hidden reality of what was happening in the country on a daily basis and of people’s concrete demands.”

Edipcia Dubón discusses how she focused on her constituents during her term in parliament. She speaks about how she focused her agenda and used women and youth perspectives to craft and advance policy in parliament.

Edipcia served in Nicaragua’s National Assembly from 2011-2016. In 2016, she along with 27 other members of the opposition in Nicaragua’s Congress were ousted from office by the Ortega government as it tried to restrict dissent. She now resides in Costa Rica.
