Woorion, A Network of North Korean Defectors in South Korea, Develops New Tools for People in Exile
Woorion, an organization created by North Korean defectors to help new defectors assimilate to life in South Korea, is growing in Seoul and starting to gain international recognition. The network brings together different organizations working with defectors in the country, and now serves one third of the defector community in South Korea. Woorion aims to help the younger generation of refugees not only assimilate and create connections in their new country, but thrive as entrepreneurs and leaders of their community. They have developed new ways of connecting with defectors, such as using messaging apps, as well as creating YouTube tutorials on lifeskills for living in their new country.
