Watch—South Korea: Inspiration for Democracy in Asia

As South Korea moves forward with reforms following the historic Candlelight Movement protests in 2016 and 2017, the World Movement convened members of Korea’s civil society, academia, and government to discuss how South Korea can position itself to provide stronger democratic leadership in Asia. The Candlelight Movement demonstrated the motivation of South Koreans to no longer tolerate government corruption, hold those in power accountable, and reengage in grassroots advocacy.
