Liberian Civil Society Organizations Issue Statement on the ECOWAS Parliament

Last week the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) held its summit in Liberia. Civil Society Organizations in Liberia, including Naymote Partners for Democratic Development and the Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia, released a statement calling for more transparency, accountability, and engagement from the ECOWAS Parliament. In the statement, these CSOs express concern over the lack of impact the parliament has had and ask that the body do more to engage civil society directly and address challenges affecting all member states, such as declining trust in democracy, human rights violations, and gender-based violence.
