As part of the International Service for Human Rights’ (ISHR) mission to support the work of human rights defenders and strengthen their legal protections, the organization has launched an interactive map on legislative protections of defenders around the world. The map collates developments in national legal instruments related to the rights of defenders and compares them with standards set by the ISHR’s Model Law for the recognition and protection of human rights defenders, a guide on how to implement the UN Declaration on Human Rights Defenders at the national level. This interactive resource is intended to complement the ISHR’s existing tools for human rights defenders while also providing an analysis of the effectiveness of these national legal instruments.
