Freedom House Reports on the Global Effects of Transnational Repression

Freedom House recently published in-depth studies of transnational repression, a tactic increasingly used by authoritarian governments to target and intimidate exiles and diaspora communities living beyond their borders in democratic countries. These two reports describe high-profile individuals and ordinary civilians who have experienced the phenomenon first-hand. Through these publications, Freedom House also calls on host governments of exiled activists “to improve their security, migration, and foreign policies so as to better protect those targeted with transnational repression.”
