The European Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ECNL) has published new flashcards that assess the state of the right to freedom of assembly in five different Western Balkans countries. The flashcards were created as a supplementary tool to help communicate information from ECNL’s country reports, which are part of the Western Balkans Assembly Monitor project under the Civic Space Initiative. Every flashcard includes highlights from the complementary country report, and are designed as an organizing tool for advocates. The flashcards provide detailed information about the international standards that all governments must adhere to while respecting the right to freedom of assembly. Both the reports and flashcards identify the challenges – like the use of criminal charges or excessive force – that have affected public assemblies in Bosnia, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.
