The World Movement Secretariat welcomes two new Hurford Youth Fellows to the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) in Washington, DC – Ateki Seta Caxton of Cameroon and Goma Devi Bastola of Nepal!

During their four-month fellowships, they will have the opportunity to build their leadership skills and benefit from, and contribute to, the development of the World Youth Movement for Democracy.

Ateki Seta Caxton is the Executive Director of Network for Solidarity, Empowerment and Transformation for All in Cameroon, where he works to empower youth, and promote peace and democracy. During his fellowship, he will be focusing on the role of technology and social media in engaging youth in politics, and will explore how online campaigns can be used as a tool to address legal reforms, including lowering the voting age in Cameroon from 21 to 18.

Goma Devi Bastola is the President of the Rural Women’s Network in Nepal where she works to promote human rights and social justice for rural women and youth. During her fellowship, she will be focusing on how civil society can work with community leaders and political actors to make girl’s education a priority in rural communities. In addition, she plans to focus on the role of technology in addressing sexual violence against girls and promoting girl’s access to education in rural communities.
