On August 12, 2018, the World Movement network celebrated International Youth Day by highlighting programs to engage youth in democratic processes and by underscoring the necessity for youth engagement and inclusion in civic and political spaces. Take a look below at how some of these organizations and programs are working to empower youth every day.

To celebrate the stories of youth activists year-round, the National Democratic Institute (NDI) launched a new blog series, “Youth Voices: Stories of Political Participation.” Youth represent a larger portion of the world’s population than at any other time in history, and their participation in civic and political sectors will be integral in shaping more inclusive and representative societies in the future. To encourage youth engagement in political processes, this series hopes to highlight how youth activists are working with their governments to create meaningful change in their communities today.
