On National Youth Day in Venezuela, students and activists took to the streets to peacefully protest the country’s current human rights and economic situation. The Latin American and Caribbean Network for Democracy (RedLad) issued an alert, available in English and Spanish, according to which some protesters have been killed and media outlets covering the protests such as NTN24 have had their signal blocked. Former presidents Oscar Arias of Costa Rica and Alejandro Toledo of Peru have also written about the events. Participating organization Un Mundo Sin Mordaza is thoroughly documenting the situation on its Facebook page.
