The World Movement for Democracy and the Latin American Youth Network for Democracy (Juventud LAC) co-hosted a Crossover Initiative discussion titled “Understanding the needs of citizens to develop effective policies” on October 26, 2021. Julieta Altieri of Argentina moderated the discussion between Jatzel Román of the Dominican Republic and José Manuel Ormachea of Bolivia.

Julieta Altieri worked as an advisor for the Argentinian government focusing on providing effective services to the country’s citizens. She moderated this dialogue between José Manuel Ormachea and Jatzel Román about the initiatives they have developed to effectively respond to the needs of Bolivians and Dominicans. With a background in activism, Jose Ormachea has fought for causes to improve the lives of Bolivians collectively. As a Congressman from La Paz in the Bolivian Parliament, he notes that usually constituents feel they must go see him at his office to express their concerns, but they never expected that he would come to them. Jatzel Román was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic. During his time, he has led efforts in consular matters to effectively respond to the migration crisis of Venezuelans and Haitians in his country.
