Dedicated to international exchange, Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellowships enable democracy scholars and practitioners to conduct independent projects during five months in residence at the National Endowment for Democracy’s (NED) International Forum for Democratic Studies in Washington, D.C. The program offers fellowships for practitioners to improve strategies for strengthening democracy and human rights abroad and for scholars to conduct original research for publication. Fellows work full-time on their projects, which focus on the political, social, economic, legal, and cultural aspects of democratic development and culminate in a presentation and final product.

The program organizes an active calendar of events, including an orientation to NED and its partner institutions, seminars with leading democracy experts, and field trips. The fellowship supports applicants from developing and aspiring democracies, and those from non-democratic countries. Distinguished scholars from the U.S. and other established democracies are also eligible to apply. Fellows receive monthly payments to cover living expenses, plus basic health insurance, travel reimbursement, and research support. Deadline to apply: October 15, 2018. Find more information here.
