ReAcción, along with several allied civil society organizations, have won their lawsuit against Paraguay’s Comptroller General, forcing him to release documents showing how government officials have spent COVID-19 emergency funds. This comes on the heels of their recent victory with Paraguay’s Supreme Court, which ruled in favor of publishing sworn declarations of public assets by public officials in efforts to curb corruption and promote transparency. ReAcción has also placed pressure on Paraguay’s legislative branch to accept President Mario Abdo’s veto of a law that would decriminalize the publication of false documents by public officials.
