Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) reports that pro-democracy activists Makomborero Haruzivishe and Allan Moyo were released on Monday, February 24, after being held in police custody since the previous week. The men were arrested in Harare, Zimbabwe on charges of participating in a “gathering with intent to promote public violence.” Court prosecutors said that Haruzivishe and Moyo were arrested because they participated in a protest held by the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) where they held signs reading “Respect Our Own Constitution” and sang protest songs.
