Dismas Kitenge (DR Congo)

Dismas Kitenge is a co-founder of Groupe LOTUS, a non-governmental organization that works to defend human rights in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He also serves as an advocate at the national and international level at various institutions, including the African Union, the African Commission for Human and People’s Rights, the European Union, the International Criminal Court, and the United Nations in Geneva and New York. In addition to his human rights work, Kitenge serves as an Associate Professor and researcher at the Faculty of Law of Kisangani University, where he teaches courses on human rights and public liberties, citizenship education, and comparative policy on political regimes.  

Dismas was re-elected FIDH Vice President at the 38th FIDH Congress in Istanbul, Turkey, in May 2013. In 2008, he was awarded the Ferthe Foundation Human Rights Prize.
