Dr. Carlos Ponce, a member of the World Movement’s Steering Committee and General Coordinator of the Latin American and Caribbean Network for Democracy, has penned an op-ed on Venezuela’s institutional crisis. Although President Hugo Chávez was re-elected to a fourth term in October, he has not been seen or heard from since he left for Cuba on December 11 for his fourth cancer surgery. The Chavez-aligned Supreme Court ruled on the eve of January 10 that his inauguration could be postponed until his health improved. In the meantime, who is leading Venezuela?
