Glanis Changachiere, Director of the Institute for Young Women Development (IYWD) and World Movement Steering Committee member, has published a new article analyzing how Zimbabwe’s political violence is systematic and gendered. Changachiere highlights the cases of three female members of the Movement for Democratic Change-Alliance (MDC-AU), who were attacked and arrested after leaving a demonstration against Zimbabwe’s ruling party in May. These attacks are just a few of the many cases of political violence inflicted on women to suppress their voices and participation.
