Following the passage of a highly restrictive law regulating nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in May, the Egyptian Center for Public Policy Studies (ECPPS) has launched the #FreeNGOsinEgypt Campaign. The Campaign aims to educate the Egyptian public and the international community about the devastating effects this law will have on civil society’s ability to access resources and foreign funding, social services, and freedom of expression. A video, narrated by Egyptian human rights leaders and the former Minister of Social Affairs, analyzes the events preceding the passage of the law, which was drafted in secrecy, circumventing civil society and directly contradicting rights protected under the Egyptian Constitution. Watch the video and help ECPPS spread the word by sharing it with your networks, and learn more about how to defend your right to access resources with our infographic here.
