Voces Del Sur Calls for International Organizations to Better Advocate for Freedom of the Press in Latin America Amidst Rising Violence Against Journalists in the Region

Voces Del Sur, a regional network of civil society organizations defending freedom of expression and the press, has released a statement calling for the international community to address the rise in violence against journalists in the Latin America region. With 14 signatory organizations from the region, their statement describes the stifling of press freedom that has occurred across Latin America, including the fact that since the beginning of 2022, eight journalists have been killed in Mexico due to their work, and examines trends in Nicaragua, Cuba, and El Salvador
