The World Movement was deeply saddened to learn about the death of renowned human rights expert, former UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial killings, and valued partner to the World Movement, Christof Heyns. Mr. Heyns was a historic figure in the field of human rights, and his recent work on the UN Human Rights Commission led to the drafting of General Comment #37 on Article 21 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), which expanded the protections of civil society’s right to receive resources. We honor Mr. Heyns’s legacy and give our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
