Consultant Positions:

The World Movement for Democracy seeks a consultant to interview a number of individuals who have transitioned from being civil society activists to government officials in order to capture and present their experiences in a structured format to support its “Crossover” initiative.
Major political transitions present an opportunity to advance democratic reforms. Following political transitions, civil society activists sometimes have the opportunity to join government and advance reform from within. In order to maximize the potential that crossover presents, civil society activists need to prepare for the challenges they will face in politics by developing skills and strategies to succeed in advancing democracy within government.
The consultant will conduct interviews with a pre-selected number, up to 25, individuals who have crossover experience. The survey will result in a paper captures their experiences. The paper must be submitted no later than August 31, 2019 for review by World Movement staff, with a final version to be submitted to the World Movement by September 20, 2019.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Extensive knowledge of civil society in multiple regions
  • Experience knowledge of dynamics associated with national level political transitions
  • Direct experience crossing over from activism into government preferred
  • Experience with political or social science research and writing preferred
If you are interested in applying for this consultancy please submit a resume, cover letter, three references, and your consultancy flat rate with an estimated number of hours to complete the survey and deliverable to Meghan Backer (meghanb@ned.org) by 5:00 PM EST June 16, 2019.
