Inter-Parliamentary Union Report Reveals that Gender Parity in National Legislatures Still Far Off

The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) has published its latest “Women in Parliament in 2020” report, analyzing national elections in 57 countries to measure the number of women elected to legislatures around the world. The report finds that despite a small increase in the number of women elected since 2019, the global progress is “still excruciatingly slow” at its current rate and would “take another 50 years before gender parity is achieved in parliaments worldwide.”
