Svitlana Zalischuk of Ukraine Responds to Digital Disinformation

On June 26 and 27, 2017, global leaders from civil society, technology firms, political institutions, academia, the media, and philanthropic organizations attended the “Digital Disinformation Forum” in Stanford, California. The National Democratic Institute and the Stanford University Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law convened the event to explore responses to digital disinformation, such as “fake news.” During the event, journalist and Ukrainian Parliamentarian, Svitlana Zalischuk, described how the Ukrainian civil society organization StopFake has successfully identified and stopped false online news stories and called for a global response to digital disinformation.
