CIVICUS released their new “Guide to Reporting on Civic Space,” a toolkit for journalists and activists to use while documenting and responding to the world’s “growing trend” of state repression. The toolkit’s strategies include ethical tips for media on reporting on civic space issues and a breakdown of legal frameworks that establish and protect human rights. Lastly, CIVICUS has compiled a calendar of “international days of remembrance and commemoration” to provide the media with timely opportunities to report on civic space. CIVICUS is a member of the joint Civic Space Initiative alongside ARTICLE 19, International Center for Not-for-Profit Law, and the World Movement for Democracy.
