Antoine Bernard will become the Deputy-Director-General of Reporters Without Borders in January 2018. For several years, Bernard served as the CEO of the Paris-based International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), a non-governmental federation for human rights organizations. Bernard played a crucial role in developing FIDH’s multifaceted responses to activist empowerment, criminal accountability for perpetrators of human rights abuses, corporate responsibility, as well as effective human rights legal strategies. As an FIDH representative, Bernard has appeared before the International Criminal Court, and served in the United Nations Special Representative on Business and Human Rights’ Leadership group, as well as the French National Consultative Commission on Human Rights.

Before leading FIDH, Bernard published several academic articles and taught international human rights law and international relations at the Pantheon-Assas Paris II University, Sciences-Po School of International Affairs (PSIA), and Paris II School of Law.
